Sassy Sunday

  • No matter how cool you look with a martini, they are never worth it. Just buy yourself the glass & pour some sprite in it with some olives. Just as classy! haha..
  • When your dog decides to go to the bathroom in the middle of the side walk & you forget to bring a bag with you… act out a dramatic scene as if you're searching for one in your purse/pocket/jacket until you a sure no ones looking & then make a run for it.
  • Men! You don't look tough/manly when you act like you don't care about anything. You don't look tough….you look like…someone..with..no heart. Women like men with hearts!
  • If the room is ever spinning after one too many caesars  just do what my grandma told me on my 18th birthday. Drop the anchor (putting one leg on the ground while you're laying down)
  • Ladies. If you're going to wear heels out make sure you can walk in them first. Do what I do….practice in them at home. You want to look powerful not drunk.
  • Treat people exactly like you would like to be treated. This is a golden rule, yet so many people forget about it.
  • Take time out of your day to love your family because they are always there when the rest of the world seems to turn away.
  • Everyone needs an Erin Corbin in their life. She is such an amazing friend & no one will ever be able to replace her.
  • My goal for the summer is to lose weight/eat healthy. I want to lose weight to be healthy & also because I've always felt a little insecure of my extra pounds.
  • When someone is talking to you try your very hardest to make eye contact. I find it disrespectful when you're talking to someone & they look like they are more interested in the passing cars than what you have to say.
  • I just really want to go dancing & I don't mean to country music/hip hop, I mean like some good old classic music.
  • WEAR SUN SCREEN.
  • Disney Land use to have a 'date night' Let's just to take a moment to appreciate how cute that is.
  • Records will always be the best way to listen to music.
  • "Good shoes take you good places"
  • I cannot wait to be an auntie!
  • "It took me a long time to realize people love differently."
  • My next dog will be a french bulldog named 'Fred'
  • whenever you get worked up just think to yourself, "Will this matter in a year?"

Sassy Sunday!

  • It's good to date someone who has different interests than you BUT eventually if it's too much of an opposite you find yourself forcing things & becoming embarrassed or steering away from the things you do like!
  • Sometimes when I am on a date with someone I will order the one thing on the menu I probably wouldn't like. It is the absolute strangest thing & it's because ordering things make me awkward.
  • I have been having the worst luck when it comes to dating lately, and I suppose that's what the theme is for this, 'sassy sunday.' I mean it's not very often you'll find someone who's interested in a girl who wears the kind of clothing I do, and the kind of hair styles I do. It seems like everyone is looking for their country girl who wears camouflage. I'm sorry, but I will never be that girl.
  • In regards to friendships.. If I have to contact you constantly & you hardly ever show any interest in talking to me, I will assume you're not interested in an actual friendship with me.
  • I am beginning to realize I would rather have one dollar instead of four quarters. I would rather surround myself with one amazing person than a bunch of people who only treat you well a small portion of time & when it's convenient for them.
  • My new drink of choice : tonic & vodka with lime. It's also the one drink that makes me sing musical songs.
  • The other night I went to the high school musical in town & it made me miss high school so much! Well, perhaps just drama/choir class. I wish I would have known how much I would miss the musicals & the people while I was there. It always seems to happen that way eh? We don't realize what we have until it's gone.
  • If I have to pick you up in my car on a date…..rethink your man hood. I am such a huge believer in the old school form of dating. ALSO, please don't wear sweat pants.
  • Reading over this I sound like I have high standards for men/dating. I really feel like asking for someone to be a gentleman nowadays is like asking for my pug to not snore through the night. I just want to meet someone who believes in opening the door for a lady, paying for the *first* date, picking me up with flowers MAYBE, or yenno, maybe even asking if I made it home safely if I end up driving you around.
  • During a night with my girlfriends, my friend told me that there is more yard flamingos than actual flamingos in the states. haha! That will definitely be my yard when I have my own home.
  • If any girls are looking for a great lip liner...My recommendation is MAC 'cherry red.'
  • I think it's important to learn how to cook & to learn how to cook well. I mean there is only so many times you can impress someone with your "special mac & cheese?" (for the record, I am not the one with the special mac n cheese)
  • ALWAYS take your makeup off before going to bed. This is my new rule & I am guilty for falling asleep with it on. Don't do it girls!
  • Screw Keurig! Brew your own coffee.
Happy Sunday!

Tribute to Miss Dita Von Teese

"I make a point to never, ever point out my physical flaws... this is advice I give to women as often as I can. People don't notice the things we see in ourselves that we hate, so why direct them to it?"
- Dita Von Teese

Recently I've wondered what is it that makes old hollywood starlets like Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Judy Garland, Bettie Page, Audrey Hepburn, and many more so absolutely stunning. Whatever the secret was…Dita Von Teese definitely has it. I have been in love with vintage style since I was around fifteen & I have studied the supposedly makeup & hair rituals of these women. As much as the hair, makeup & clothing plays a huge part, I have come to know that charm & how you represent yourself is highly important too.
I've recently been watching interviews of old hollywood stars & noticing how a little is always more & there is a sense of mystery that forces us to want to know more.
I love this interview with her cars that I've attached below.

As many of you may know Dita Von Teese is the queen of burlesque & is recently on tour for her show, "Strip Strip Hooray!" Some people may say that she is just a stripper & what she is doing doesn't take talent & A lot of feminists find her to be degrading to woman, but I don't think that at all. In fact, she states in a lot of her interviews that her main fan base is woman. I find her to be very powerful & in touch with her sexuality.
Here's a video !

For me, Dita Von Teese gives me inspiration & reminds me that it's okay to feel different & in fact being different should make you feel powerful.

ah, the future / My Kind of Monday

It's been a couple weeks since I've written anything in my blog & I have been having a hard time finding the inspiration to do so. I've been focusing my time on figuring out what I really want to do with my life. I do believe that I am a smart girl & in due time I will find something that truly makes me happy & I will enjoy a good percentage of the time I spend doing it. Something I've always imagined myself doing was owning my own little cafe with a vintage shop attached to it, nestled in an old building on Osborne or the Exchange. I believe I should stop saying & start doing & if this is something I really want to do, I better start focusing on the process it will take. Starting a business & it being successful can be extremely tricky & somewhat of a gamble. Working at cafes & retail will allow me to learn the business & what works & what doesn't. I have also thought about going into the business program at Red River in the next year or so.
Now! I do realize that I haven't been keeping up with, "sassy sundays" as my brother reminded me via multiple snap chats! (haha) I will for sure have one up this coming Sunday! Along with 'sassy sundays' I have decided that every Monday will be called,
'My kind of Monday' which will consist of different things I've been into lately, wether that is recipes, clothing, decor, hair styles, music, shout outs, etc.
here we go!

I recently saw a phone table at a thrift store but it was in
horrible condition. I am in love with this cute furniture for
making calls etc. If anyone sees one, let me know!
MUST READ! This book is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it!
“We get together with people because they're the same or because they're different, and in the end we split with them for exactly the same reasons.”
I wrote a song called 'The Letter' & I've been dying to get a tattoo
in honour of it! The song holds a spot in my heart
& I would love to get something along the lines of the above.
Check out the video of the song below!

Lucille Ball! She is absolutely breathtaking & she is hilarious.
I have recently turned  a red head & she may have been one of the reasons ;)
I love Marilyn Monroe & all those other scarlets BUT Lucy isn't afraid to act silly!

Jiving! I want to learn how to do this SO BAD! Seeking Jiving partner!!
This was a video taken from 2012's Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Festival which is actually coming up on April 17-20th! I plan on going next year!

Well, i'm not sure if summer is ever going to come BUT I am
in love with retro bathing suits like this. They are hard to come
by now but luckily there is such things as etsy!

Have a great week everyone! xo

c e r t a i n

It's been awhile since I've written in my blog & I believe it to be because I haven't felt much inspiration around me lately. Perhaps it's my lack of motivation for life. This sounds incredibly depressing & yes maybe it is, but I haven't been exactly myself lately. I have been dealing with some issues of feeling as if I am not worth very much & I haven't felt this way since maybe grade 11. I absolutely hate it this feeling & I haven't been able to shake it.
Now listen carefully. I am not asking for anyones pity & in due time everything will be okay because we must always remember it will be. Also, I am aware the others have it much worse & I would never want to compare my issues with theirs. The only reason I'm writing about this is because writing has been said to clear the mind & another reason I have decided to write it publicly instead of in one of my journals is because sometimes it's nice to know you're not alone. If anyone else is dealing with these feelings & they read this blog post, they might not feel like they are the only ones experiencing this.
Here are a few of the things I have been experiencing lately:
  1. Unemployment- I have been trying to get a job for about a month now. I have had a few call backs & interviews but nothing seems to be working out. Everyone around me wants me to pursue something that I do not want to do, but they have a point…sometimes you have to suck it up in order to support yourself. My stubborn self keeps saying, "Just give it another week" But I seem to be failing, so looks like I might have push my stubbornness aside for once.
  2. Single- I haven't been single, like really single in about four years. I haven't been alone like this in quite some time & feel really lonely. Being lonely can be harmful because you might settle because you're craving for someone to love you, and that is not right. Do not love or be with someone for these reasons. Being single  for the first time in a long time is starting to make me focus on myself  a little more which is really great, but I miss being able to be the reason for someone's smile, or to be someones world & vice versa. I know my time will come with the right person, but there are nights where it feels like I will always feel this way.
  3. Money- Well money goes hand in hand with unemployment BUT I'm not a huge fan of having to worry about money & looking back I wish I would have saved money when I had two jobs instead of taking it for granted.
  4. Weight- I have always felt a little insecure with the way my body is. I am not a size zero & I don't entirely want to be. (not that there is anything wrong with that) But I wouldn't mind losing some weight so I can feel incredibly beautiful. I know that feeling beautiful comes more from the inside than the outside but it would be nice to be able feel good in my skin. I have always made these resolutions to lose weight or eat more healthy, but it never seems to follow through. (every woman's battle) I believe if I start taking care of myself more then i'll have more motivation for the above.
  5. Friendships- What I have found out lately is pick your friends wisely. Sometimes we tend to go up & beyond for the people we care about & we don't get much back in return. Now, it's not about a score board, but it's definitely nice to feel as though you are cared for & if you needed them they would be there for you too. Sometimes we have to cut people out of our lives, but be very careful when doing this because sometimes people are going through phases or their own hardships & instead of pushing them away, they might actual need you more then ever.  Be careful.
I strongly believe in the saying, "Everything will work  itself out." I know that in a months time I could have a job I love, a beginning of a great relationship with someone, a little bit of cash in my pocket, perhaps a membership to a gym that i'll actually go to, and it's possible that I will meet another great friend. It takes hard moments & difficult feelings in order to know when life feels good, and because I am aware of that fact I know for certain I will be okay.
Lastly, We must always remember we are not alone, no matter how much it feels like we are.
Bad days don't mean a bad life.
